Which modes support Pirate Shop Access?
Battle Royale and Zero Build are listed as supported modes for Treasure Hunt chest drops. Those chests can award Pirate Shop Access, which gives you timed access to eligible Item Shop offers. Start with the Fortnite shop token overview if you need the reward and activation rules. Before your next chest run, check the full playlist name in Fortnite and compare it with the mode table below.
| Game mode | Access drops |
|---|---|
| Battle Royale | Supported · Reported |
| Zero Build | Supported · Reported |
| Reload | Unconfirmed |
| Ranked | Disputed · Unconfirmed |
| Creative / UEFN | Unconfirmed |
The table distinguishes modes with reported access drops from modes whose eligibility remains unconfirmed. Read the status alongside the name. A familiar-looking map, chest, or playlist description is not enough to decide whether a match belongs in your token run. When you compare routes later, keep notes from uncertain playlists separate from the openings you counted in modes with supporting reports.
Choose a playlist before planning the route
Choose the supported mode your group can play comfortably. The route works best when players can open chests and leave an area without repeatedly stopping to renegotiate what they are doing. If you usually play with the same friends, agree on the mode and the aim of the session before anyone readies up. That makes the chest count you collect easier to interpret.
Check the full playlist name
Read the selected mode before you queue and make sure it matches your plan.
Choose a supported match
Use Battle Royale or Zero Build for Treasure Hunt chest openings.
Use a route that fits your group
Pick a first cluster, a backup landing, and a place to regroup if the route is interrupted.
Record eligible openings
Keep unsupported or unconfirmed playlists separate from the count you enter into the calculator.
If someone changes the playlist between matches, check it again before the next queue. This is especially useful when your group alternates chest runs with other activities. Keep the match notes short enough that you will actually write them down. The playlist name, the route you tried, and eligible openings per player are enough to compare one supported chest run with another without mixing the results together.
Why consider Zero Build Squads?
Zero Build is a supported option for players who want to focus on movement, chest clusters, and regrouping without planning build fights. Whether it is the better choice depends on your group. If your usual team survives longer and moves more confidently in the other supported mode, use that experience when choosing the playlist. The goal is a route the group can repeat.
Community reports say access is shared when a squadmate finds the token. Read the squad sharing guide before using that report to plan separate clusters. Assign nearby areas so players cover distinct chests and can still regroup. Sharing reports do not establish eligibility while downed or spectating, so keep those situations in your notes if they occur during a find.
Reload and Creative reports
Reload and Creative / UEFN eligibility is unconfirmed. That is an evidence gap, rather than proof that access can never appear there. For a planned chest session, choose a mode with supporting reports instead. If a video or map description suggests another route to access, compare the claim with the mode it shows. A clip can omit playlist selection or the events surrounding the notification.
If you enjoy another mode, keep playing it for the reasons you already enjoy it. Leave those chests out of the eligibility count for this guide. That gives you a cleaner record when you want to compare runs. If a genuine find appears to contradict the current table, record the exact mode and notification so the report can be checked before the guide changes its status.
Ranked remains unconfirmed
Ranked eligibility is disputed in the available reports and remains unconfirmed in the current data. This guide therefore cannot tell you to count its chests as supported attempts. A session without a token also tells you very little on its own. The rarity of the reward and the lack of a confirmed rate make short personal runs a weak way to settle mode eligibility.
Epic Games has not published an official drop rate. These scenarios model an assumed fixed, independent chance; they do not predict your real in-game drop rate. Use the odds calculator to see how a low per-chest chance can produce a long sequence without a find, even in an eligible mode. Keep the mode question and rate question separate when you review a report. A confirmed playlist name helps answer one question, while a large, well-described sample would be needed to learn much about the other.
Before queueing with friends, name the playlist in your plan and verify it again after any mode switch. Keep a simple note for the whole session so that a different playlist does not silently enter the same chest count. When you compare results later, group supported runs together and set uncertain runs aside. This keeps an unsuccessful session useful for route planning without treating it as evidence about a mode the current data has not confirmed.
Use mode notes to improve your next session
Record what the team can use for the next run. If a supported landing is consistently contested, use the chest locations guide to pick a backup rather than switching to an unconfirmed playlist to avoid a fight. Compare actual openings across a few games and include the runs that end early. That gives you a realistic average for the time you plan to play.
After a find, open the Item Shop on the account that received access. The first activation is due by 2026-12-15; each activation runs for 14 consecutive days. Check the activation instructions and eligible offers before starting. Real-money offers, gifts, and Battle Pass content are excluded. Mode eligibility gets you to the chest search, and the shop display helps you use the reward afterward.
